Due to the success and positive feedback from the previous year The Grow Your Own Salad (GYOS) initiative from the British Leafy Salads Association has returned and has given away one thousand free kits. The initiative is aimed at pupils aged 7-11 years old and the kits include pots and three different types of seeds supplied by Tozer Seeds: rocket Astra, lettuce Ashbrook and chard Intense. The campaign has been highly successful and well received in schools across the country with the number of schools increasing year on year with nine hundred schools taking part last year. The scheme will help the children develop first-hand knowledge of where their food comes from in their own classrooms.
